Tutor Corner #2

Tutor Sessions: 10%

Receptive and expressive Practice Sessions: Every odd week, students will be required to individually practice signing skills with a TA in T3615. These assignments will be posted on the class blog. Assignments will be from your required textbooks or provided by me. The TA will watch your assignment, discuss areas you are doing well and areas you are struggling in each session will be graded on a pass/fail basis. If you are unable to attend your appointment, it is your job to email the tutor before your appointment. If you do not do this, you cannot make up your appointment. In order to avoid scheduling bottlenecks you will be required to sign up in T3615 for a specific time during a specified week. Students are required to attend tutoring individually.

Translate into ASL. Provide a typed written translation and a recorded signed portion.

Selection . Select two sections from section 13 (you must select two that are not signed on the provided DVD) to complete with your tutor. These need to be translated into ASL and you must provide a written and recorded portion. This does not need to be posted on youtube for this assignment but it does need to be recorded and emailed to me and your tutor prior to your session.

Students will show the tutors their work and watch the translations together. Students must sign them again after watching and discussing with the tutor.

STUDENTS HAVE UNTIL THE NEXT ODD WEEK WEDNESDAY(WEEK 15) TO COMPLETE THIS TUTOR ASSIGNMENT

Final Vlog/Blog: Quiet Campus

http://deaftv.com/film/1-Quiet-Campus/

As we wrap up our sesmester I wanted to blog about an email that I got from a student. Kara asked me if I had seen this program called "Quiet Campus" on MTV. I have not. I do not have cable but with some research, I found this clip. It seems like it is a very interesting take on Deaf people, ASL and the "mecca" of Deaf Culture, Gallaudet University. Although I have not seen the program, I am fascinated in the title, "Quiet Campus". I would like you to watch this clip and then I would like you to create a title that is more suitable for this program that eliminates barriers and stereotypes. Why did you select that title? What do you want your title to portray?
